We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Health team within the Community Safety, Enforcement and Business Regulation service. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering environmental health and public protection services, contributing to the Council's corporate priorities and improving standards across the borough.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of commercial premises and enforce environmental health legislation
  • Investigate complaints, incidents, and complex cases
  • Prepare reports, case files, and prosecution documentation
  • Lead targeted operations and projects across areas such as: Health & Safety, Food standards, Infectious disease control, Licensing enforcement
  • Build strong partnerships with businesses and stakeholders to drive compliance
  • Provide expert advice to businesses and the public
  • Manage complex investigations through to resolution or prosecution
  • Support, coach, and guide junior officers (PO3/PO4 levels)

About You

You will be a qualified Environmental Health professional with strong technical knowledge and enforcement experience.

Essential requirements:

  • Environmental Health degree or diploma (EHRB/REHIS recognised)
  • Registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner (EHORB or equivalent)
  • Experience in enforcement, inspections, and case management
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage complex workloads and work independently
