The Adults Commissioning Team is looking for a Brokerage Assistant to join our fast‑paced, collaborative service. As a vital member of our Brokerage Team, you'll play a key role in ensuring adults in need of care and support can access high‑quality services that promote independence, wellbeing and choice.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Brokerage Manager, you will help maintain the systems, data and processes that underpin the delivery of placements and care packages across Hackney. You will work closely with providers, social workers, health colleagues, finance teams and other internal stakeholders to make sure information is accurate, up‑to‑date and supports effective decision‑making. This is a varied, rewarding role that offers the opportunity to develop your skills in commissioning, contract management, relationship building and care brokerage.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate databases, including care home vacancies and information on placements, support packages and associated costs.
- Liaise proactively with care providers, Brokerage Officers, Social Workers, Care Coordinators, Contract Officers and Finance teams.
- Support the sourcing, arrangement and amendment of placements in residential, nursing and supported living settings.
- Participate in the team's duty system, handling incoming calls, emails and other communications.
- Ensure systems such as Mosaic and CM2000 are updated in line with policies and procedures.
- Monitor provider compliance and report issues to Contract Officers.
- Support the development of policies and procedures within the Brokerage function.
- Maintain high-quality, accurate records for financial forecasting and community care charging.
- Uphold Hackney Council's values, including commitments to diversity, equality, personalisation and excellent customer service.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Background in health or social care, including experience with residential or supported living placements.
- Comfortable managing relationships with stakeholders in a care or commissioning environment.
- Confident using IT systems to record activity, track performance and communicate effectively.
- Able to communicate clearly and assertively in writing and verbally.
- A collaborative team member who can also work independently.
- Skilled at managing your own workload, prioritising under pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Able to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on available information.
- Good understanding of relevant legislation, data protection, commissioning practices and health/social care policy frameworks.
