Role: Full-time Learning Support Assistant to support learners in the Additional Learning Support team across Luton and Hemel Hempstead campuses.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students under teacher oversight, ensuring safe working practices.
- Demonstrate the correct use of equipment and materials to students.
- Contribute to supervision of student recreational activities and educational visits.
- Act as a role model for students, promoting high standards of conduct and behaviour.
- Maintain designated practical work areas, ensuring cleanliness and health and safety compliance.
- Check, maintain and repair equipment as required.
- Prepare equipment and materials for teaching and learning activities.
- Provide technical advice to staff and students on selected equipment and materials.
- Operate a booking system to control allocation and usage of equipment and resources.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of consumables and order supplies.
- Maintain inventories of equipment according to procedures.
- Safely dispose of waste materials.
- Undertake risk assessments and implement control measures for designated processes.
- Provide first aid in the event of an accident within the practical work area.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Level 3 qualification and experience working with 16‑to‑19‑year‑olds and/or adults with learning difficulties or disabilities.
- Proven enthusiasm for supporting students with a wide range of learning difficulties or disabilities in an FE setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of students.
- Ability to keep accurate records and work independently when required.
- Knowledge of EHCP procedures and gathering information for annual review meetings is desirable.
