Multi-Skilled Craft Operative Contract: Temporary - 16 weeks Rate of Pay: £21.65 per hour Start Date: ASAP About the Role Dudley Council is looking to recruit 20 Multi-Skilled Craft Operatives on a temporary basis for an initial 16-week period to support the delivery of kitchen and bathroom refurbishment works across council properties within the Dudley Borough. The successful candidates will carry out a range of general building and maintenance tasks, working as part of a team to ensure refurbishment works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Key Responsibilities * Carry out multi-skilled maintenance and refurbishment works within occupied and vacant council properties. Dudley Council is looking to recruit 20 experienced Multi-Skilled Craft Operatives on a temporary 16-week contract to support kitchen and bathroom refurbishment works across properties within the Dudley Borough. We are looking for experienced tradespeople with a strong background in carpentry, plastering and plumbing, as well as previous experience carrying out mobile reactive repairs. Key Responsibilities * Carry out kitchen and bathroom refurbishment works across council properties. * Complete a range of carpentry and joinery works, including repairs, alterations and installations. * Undertake plastering and making-good works to a high standard. * Complete plumbing repairs and installation works where competent. * Carry out mobile reactive repairs across residential properties. * Diagnose and resolve a variety of general maintenance and repair issues. * Complete remedial and finishing works following refurbishment activities. * Work across different properties within the Dudley Borough. * Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. * Maintain professional standards when working in residents' homes. * Identify additional defects and report any works requiring further attention. * Follow all relevant health and safety procedures and council requirements. * Keep work areas clean, safe and tidy. Essential Experience Candidates must have practical experience in: * Carpentry / joinery * Plastering * Plumbing * Reactive repairs * Property maintenance and refurbishment * Working within residential properties, ideally within social housing or local authority environments Candidates should be confident working independently, managing a mobile workload and completing repairs to a high standard. Skills & Requirements * Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Operative, Craft Operative, Maintenance Operative or similar. * Strong practical skills across multiple building trades. * Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability. * Ability to work independently and manage a schedule of reactive repairs. * Good communication and customer-service skills. * Reliable, punctual and professional approach. * Understanding of health and safety requirements. * Ability to travel between properties across the Dudley Borough. * Relevant trade qualifications are desirable but practical experience will also be considered.
