Working hours – 30 hours per week – Monday to Friday 8.35am–3.15pm

Weeks per year – School term‑time

Grade – Grade 5

Salary – (per annum) Support staff pay scale points 5 – £25,583 (FTE), £18,587 (pro rata)

  • This post represents an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to share in the work of our thriving Student Support Centre and to work with a friendly and supportive team housed in excellent modern facilities.
  • We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has a talent for engaging students, and you will be required to work flexibly across all age groups and abilities.
  • This role complements the professional work of the English department by providing support in‑class and small group support to students.
  • There will be opportunities to develop within the team and make a valued contribution to students' learning.
  • The successful candidate will be required to support students in their English lessons.

Set in a semi‑rural location with an 18th Century family Manor House at its heart, Lytchett has one of the most beautiful and inspirational learning environments in the county with stunning extensive grounds and a number of modern extensions. The school is massively over‑subscribed and highly regarded in the community. Parents know that Lytchett looks after its students, providing them with outstanding pastoral care and high‑quality teaching. The school has a successful, thriving sixth form with over 340 students.

Lytchett has not joined a multi‑academy trust, and has no intention of doing so, because it values its independence as a secondary school which serves its local community and produces outstanding outcomes for its students.

We Would Love To Hear From You If You:

  • Have a minimum of 3 GCSEs A‑C (9‑4), including Maths and English, or equivalent
  • Know and are able to apply consistently a range of school policies, particularly those regarding health and safety, equal opportunities, behaviour management, child protection and special educational needs (SEN)
  • Have the necessary skills to manage safely the classroom activities, the physical learning space and the resources for which you are responsible for
  • Understand and are able to use a range of strategies to deal with general classroom behaviour and also individual behavioural needs
  • Take personal responsibility for your own professional development
  • Are flexible and are able to use your initiative
  • Have excellent communication skills

The pro‑rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements. The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.
