Role purpose:
The UK BDR will help build outbound pipeline by identifying target accounts, engaging decision makers, booking qualified meetings for the sales team, and supporting event-led prospecting.
The role is designed for someone early in their sales career who is coachable, resilient, commercially curious, and confident engaging prospects both remotely and face to face.
Main duties and key responsibilities:
- Research and prioritise target accounts using agreed data segments and campaign criteria.
- Prospect through LinkedIn, email, and phone to create conversations with enterprise decision makers.
- Qualify interest, pain points, timing, and fit before passing meetings to sales.
- Maintain accurate activity, notes, and meeting outcomes in Salesforce and related tools.
- Work closely with Demand Generation, Sales, and Marketing to improve messaging, campaigns, event follow-up, and conversion rates.
- Support event-led demand generation by identifying relevant events, helping prospect attendees, attending events where required, manning a stand, and confidently explaining what Connect does in face-to-face conversations.
- Apply coaching and feedback quickly to improve call quality, messaging, and meeting conversion.
Ideal candidate profile:
- 0β3 years of sales, customer-facing, recruitment, retail, hospitality, or commercial experience.
- Strong English communication skills, with the confidence to speak to senior stakeholders over the phone, online, and face to face.
- Coachable, competitive, resilient, and motivated by a fast-paced, high-activity sales environment with clear progression in sight.
- Curious about business, technology, customer experience, and how companies solve operational challenges.
- Comfortable representing the business professionally at events, engaging visitors at a stand, and having short, clear conversations about the value Connect provides.
- Organised and disciplined enough to manage daily outreach activity and follow-up cadence.
- Consultative rather than overly salesy, with the ability to ask good questions and listen properly.
Requirements:
- UK-based candidate, ideally London or within easy reach of the wider UK sales team.
- Degree preferred, but not essential if the candidate shows strong communication, drive, and reasoning ability.
- Previous outbound, SDR, BDR, telesales, recruitment, or customer-facing experience is useful but not mandatory.
- Comfortable using CRM systems, LinkedIn, email sequencing, and sales engagement tools.
- Willing and able to attend relevant UK events when required, including supporting stand presence, prospect engagement, and post-event follow-up.
- Success measures:
- Consistent, high-volume outbound activity across phone, email, and LinkedIn, showing strong daily work rate and urgency.
- Qualified meetings booked and attended by target prospects.
- Clear handover notes and accurate Salesforce activity, notes, and meeting outcomes that help sales progress opportunities.
- Effective contribution to event-led pipeline generation, including meaningful event conversations, useful prospect notes, and timely follow-up after attendance.
- Improvement in messaging, objection handling, call quality, and conversion rates over the first 90 days.
- Positive adoption of coaching, process, and feedback.
