Our client is a leading Construction company who are responsible for some of London's most iconic projects. They are looking for a technically strong Engineer who can be the link between the trades and the commissioning agent to ensure that the Agent is able to get things done. This role will combine your people management, technical, project management and coordination skills.

The Commissioning Manager will report to the Building Services Project Manager and/or the Commissioning Lead. The Commissioning Manager will provide and oversee all aspects of commissioning with a strong Mechanical/HVAC input. Interface with client and subcontractors to ensure successful commissioning, demonstration and training of all systems contained within the project. Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain commissioning lookahead schedules and monitor progress.
  • Implement the project's commissioning strategy in alignment with overall delivery goals.
  • Conduct design and construction reviews.
  • Review and provide feedback on commissioning method statements.
  • Prepare, review and manage the commissioning programme, ensuring logical sequencing and alignment with project milestones.
  • Attend and document meetings and technical workshops.
  • Perform pre-commissioning installation inspections and QA walkdowns.
  • Lead and manage the testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning processes.
  • Provide proactive leadership to subcontractor commissioning teams to ensure timely and efficient progress.
  • Guide the construction team on commissioning requirements and building readiness for commissioning.
  • Collaborate closely with the construction team to monitor subcontractor and specialist works.
  • Witness both off-site and on-site testing and commissioning activities.

What do I need to be successful in this role?

  • Experience in the construction building services sector, with a strong track record in commissioning and handing over large, technically complex projects.
  • Deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience in mechanical and HVAC systems commissioning and fault finding.
  • Proven ability to manage building services subcontractors through installation and commissioning phases.
  • Experience delivering successful project handovers, including client training, commissioning manuals, and O&M documentation.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and developing method statements and commissioning procedures.
  • Experience in developing and managing master commissioning programmes for major projects.
