We are searching for an Experienced Building Services Commissioning Manager with an EU passport for a role in Finland. You must have previous Data Centre experience and have experience of setting up a commissioning management project and seeing it through to completion. This role is client facing and we need someone who can chair the meetings to make sure that the trades on site are all hitting deadlines.

This is a Project Lead role so previous experience of leading a CM project is essential.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure that building services systems are commissioned properly and in accordance with the relevant requirements.
  • Ensure that our commitments to our clients are met on time and to the required level of detail and quality.
  • Validate the Building Services (M&E) commissioning process and ensure that the results achieved are in line with requirements.
  • Inspect existing systems to determine their performance.
  • Advise on mechanical & electrical commissioning and performance requirements, commissioning strategies, programs, scopes of work and the like.
  • Carry out measurements, surveys and other technical inspections.
  • Collaborate with other members of the organization to improve existing systems and procedures.
  • Act as a champion in an area of particular technical interest.
  • Promote the company and the whole group through marketing activities.
  • Forward plan equipment required for testing.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents.
  • Accurately complete timesheets on a weekly basis.
  • Proactively assist other staff in the performance of their work.
  • Take full ownership of the commissioning scope from early design review through to final handover, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project milestones.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary commissioning activities, acting as the primary point of contact between client, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate commissioning risks and issues, ensuring timely resolution to avoid impact on programme or quality.
  • Drive programme integration of commissioning activities within the overall construction schedule, ensuring readiness and sequencing of works.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and site staff, promoting best practice and technical excellence across the project.
Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical compliance and high quality production of our products.
  • Work closely with the main contractor's team to develop commissioning strategies and processes that fully meet the project objectives.
  • Fully adopt the company's project and internal management systems.
  • Maintain a keen awareness of project finances and control of related expenditure.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Produce internal and client reports that include technical, commercial and programmatic aspects.
  • Provide technical commentary on drawings, manuals and technical submissions.
  • Be aware of and report internally on project scope changes.
  • Work with other members of a professional team to assess progress, difficulties and costs.
  • Perform hands-on commissioning work as required.
  • Represent the company in client-facing technical discussions and key project meetings, reinforcing confidence in delivery capability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning processes, standards, and digital tools across projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BEng Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with Building Services.
  • Considerable experience will be sought to demonstrate project management skills.
  • Member of CIBSE, ASHRAE or equivalent professional qualifications an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a commissioning engineer role in a building orientated company in the building types Data Centres, Commercial, Residential, Life Science or Health Care.
  • Worked within company Quality & Environmental policies and procedures.
  • IT Literate – MS Office package.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 8 years of industry experience dealing with mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines.
  • Must be willing to travel to site-based locations as reasonably based on HDR needs.
  • Must be an experienced engineer, either a licensed PE or a field technician with excellent understanding of MEP systems, HVAC controls, the T&B process, etc.
  • Must have good computer skills and effective typing skills.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be familiar with the organization of design documents, the preparation of the multidiscipline designs, and the delivery of the design & construction services.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, systems engineering, operations fundamentals, contracting, and general business operations.
  • Understanding of project accounting and financial management tools.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work; ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
