The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation operating within a highly regulated, high-hazard manufacturing environment.
We are looking for an experienced Head of SHEAQ / HSEQ to provide strategic leadership across Safety, Health, Environment, Assurance and Quality.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping SHEAQ strategy, developing a high-performing team, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving a strong safety and continuous improvement culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the organisation's SHEAQ strategy and function.
- Provide strategic advice and assurance to the Managing Director, Operations Director, Senior Leadership Team and Board.
- Lead, develop and coach the SHEAQ team.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Oversee risk management, operational assurance, audits and regulatory inspections.
- Lead significant incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain and improve the Integrated Management System, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Build strong relationships with regulators, customers and external stakeholders.
- Drive a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Provide leadership during significant incidents, emergencies and business continuity situations.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Significant experience within a high-hazard, highly regulated manufacturing or operational environment.
- Experience leading SHEAQ/HSEQ functions across complex operations.
- Experience within a COMAH, major-hazard or similarly regulated environment is highly desirable.
- Proven experience developing a positive safety culture and delivering continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
- Experience with risk management, incident investigation, governance and operational assurance.
- Experience working with regulatory authorities and senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication, leadership, influencing and decision-making skills.
- Experience presenting reports and strategic recommendations at Board or Executive level.
