The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
As a Network Operations Supervisor, you will support the safe delivery of Network Operations activities within your allocated area of the M25 network. Your leadership will help ensure that planned and reactive operations run smoothly, challenges are resolved quickly, and performance targets are consistently met.
You will lead a team of Incident Support Unit (ISU) Operatives, Emergency Response Team (ERT) Operatives and, at Dartford only, Recovery Operatives. You will promote a safety‑first culture, ensuring that teams are well briefed, working efficiently, and equipped with the correct resources.
You will also support the delivery of inspection regimes, maintaining high standards of work across all activities, and contribute to incident management as the Bronze Command on the network. Your effective leadership and focus on continuous improvement will directly contribute to the long‑term success of the M25 network, ensuring it remains safe, resilient, and well maintained.
This role will have direct reports across ISU, ERT and Recovery Operatives (Dartford only).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage on‑site teams, including all ISU, ERT and Recovery Operatives.
- Carry out litter surveys, gate stops and safety tours.
- Supervise the delivery of planned and reactive works, ensuring high standards, efficiency, and timely completion.
- Update the Maintenance Management System with all relevant work activity data.
- Ensure sufficient resources are in place to deliver operational requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of RAMS and procedures.
- Prepare and deliver daily work briefings on methodology, hazards, risks and control measures.
- Deliver detailed shift debriefs to identify issues and embed lessons learned.
- Support accurate use of data devices for reporting and record‑keeping.
- Oversee routine vehicle checks, driving record accuracy, and defect reporting/rectification in line with CPS procedures.
- Manage day‑to‑day people activities including performance monitoring, absence, overtime and annual leave.
- Support team development through feedback, coaching and training.
- Manage rotas to ensure adequate staffing.
- Promote continuous improvement and encourage teams to identify opportunities to enhance performance.
- Support sustainability objectives by ensuring activities align with environmental best practice and long‑term CPS goals.
Who We’re Looking For
- Appropriate CSCS qualification.
- SMSTS/SSSTS.
- Experience in highways maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
- Team leadership and performance management experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong customer‑focused mindset.
- UK Driving Licence.
Working Arrangements
This role follows a 4‑on, 4‑off shift pattern, rotating equally between four day shifts and four night shifts.
