As a Structures Supervisor, you’ll ensure the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance and defect‑rectification activities across the M25 network. Your team will be responsible for maintaining Structures Assets in line with contract requirements. Managing a team of operatives and overseeing the work of subcontractors, you’ll help maintain the safety and compliance of all works. Your role will include planning routine works, scouting defects to assess rectification requirements, delivering daily briefings and debriefings, and ensuring adequate resources are in place to deliver works safely and on time. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement, identifying cost‑saving opportunities and ensuring accurate, timely updates to the Maintenance Management System. Your effective leadership will support the long‑term success of the M25 network, ensuring it remains safe, resilient, and well‑maintained.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintenance Supervision
- Ensure efficient supervision of all work activities, including those carried out by subcontractors.
- Ensure all required information is available before works commence, including raising permits where necessary.
- Scout defects to determine exact rectification requirements.
- Plan routine and cyclical works by pre‑scouting areas prior to closures.
- Update the Maintenance Management System with accurate data for all works activities.
- Ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver all works safely and on schedule.
- Prepare and deliver daily briefings to operatives and subcontractors, outlining methodology, hazards, risks and control measures.
- Deliver detailed debriefs at the end of each shift to identify issues and embed lessons learned into future activities.
- Safety and Compliance
- Drive Zero Harm objectives by raising risk awareness, mitigating hazards and fostering a proactive safety culture across maintenance teams and subcontractors.
- Lead by example to ensure all activities meet safety standards and comply with relevant systems, processes and procedures.
- Leadership
- Manage day‑to‑day people‑related tasks including performance monitoring, absence management, overtime, and annual leave requests.
- Support the development of team members through ongoing feedback, coaching and training.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, empowering teams to explore new ideas and solutions to enhance performance.
- Identify and support cost‑saving opportunities.
Who We’re Looking For
- SMSTS or SSSTS.
- Experience in delivering structures maintenance operations, or transferable experience from a similar environment.
- Proven team‑leadership experience with the ability to drive performance and productivity.
Working Arrangements
This role is based on working Monday to Friday during daytime hours, with night work required when operational needs dictate.
