Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Highways Safety Inspector to join our dynamic team and play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of safety across our road networks.
This is a site-based role, undertaking Highway Safety Inspections across the M25 DBFO Network. The Highway Safety Inspector will carry out daily driven and monthly walked inspections to identify safety defects across multiple asset types that may pose a risk to road users and customers.
You will be responsible for identifying and escalating defect information to the relevant network teams, enabling timely hazard mitigation and defect repairs.

What You’ll Be Doing
Safety Compliance: Conduct thorough inspections of highways, roads, and related infrastructure to ensure compliance with safety regulations, standards, and policies.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential safety hazards, assess risks, and recommend effective mitigation measures to prevent accidents and enhance overall safety.
Quality Assurance: Evaluate maintenance activities to ensure they meet established safety standards and specifications, providing timely feedback to project teams.
Data Analysis: Collect and analyse road safety data to support the development of comprehensive safety strategies.
Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders including National Highways, CPS depot teams, and local communities to promote a culture of safety and implement best practices.
Who We’re Looking For
Full driving licence (B/B1)
Previous experience in a highway maintenance contract
Knowledge and experience of highway and motorway defects
Understanding of highway construction and repair requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
CSCS Site Visitor Card
Preferred: City & Guilds 6033 – Highway Inspection (or equivalent)

Location & Working Model
Location: This is a hybrid role designed to fully maximize team collaboration on the project; you will typically be working from your base CPS office, Leatherhead, Dartford or South Mimms up to three days per week and two days from home.
