Join Connect Plus Services as a Control Room Operator and be at the heart of managing and monitoring the strategic M25 DBFO network. Based at Dartford, with South Mimms as a resilience fallback, you will work as part of the Control Room team to ensure the consistent delivery of a high standard of service, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the motorway network. You may occasionally be required to travel to other locations to meet operational demand. In this role, you will contribute directly to the safety, performance and resilience of the network—responding to incidents, coordinating resources, and maintaining accurate operational records.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Coordinating the deployment of resources during incidents, ensuring all responses comply with company policy and contractual requirements.
  • Receiving and disseminating information accurately to optimise safety, efficiency and incident resolution.
  • Monitoring CCTV, tunnel and bridge safety systems, and taking appropriate action when alarms are triggered.
  • Maintaining accurate records of network occupancy using bespoke databases.
  • Ensuring that colleagues and stakeholders are kept informed of critical incidents via the appropriate escalation platforms.
  • Working to agreed business performance and quality standards.
  • Building strong, effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including real‑time liaison with National Highways Regional Operations Centres, NTIC, and NILO.
  • Receiving and implementing weather‑related decisions in line with the Severe Weather Plan, supporting the safe and resilient operation of the network during all conditions.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a skilled, proactive Control Room Operator with experience in environments requiring time‑critical deployment of resources—ideally within operational control rooms, emergency services, or National Highways settings. You will be confident operating in a performance‑driven environment, with:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem‑solving ability
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Sound judgement to make informed decisions that maintain network safety and performance
