We’re looking for a motivated Installation Trainee to join a specialist engineering team. This is a hands-on, physical role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, being outdoors, and working at height. Must have technical qualifications - experience not essential.
What You’ll Be DoingAs part of a small installation team, you’ll help install and maintain specialist systems, including:
- Roof conductors
- Down conductors
- Earth terminations
- Specialist earthing systems
You’ll work on sites such as:
- Office buildings
- Schools
- Hospitals
- Apartment blocks
- Communication towers
- Industrial and power sites
- Data centres
Your duties will include:
- Working from technical drawings
- Setting up access equipment (ladders, scaffolds, platforms)
- Using fall arrest and safety systems
- Climbing and working at height
- Using hand tools and equipment
- Supporting installations carried out in stages across multiple visits
All work is carried out with a strong focus on safety and teamwork.

• Work at varying heights
• Occasional travel to sites outside the local area
• Early starts are standard
An ideal trainee will be:
- Comfortable working at heights (essential)
- Physically fit and confident climbing
- Sure-footed with good balance
- Good with tools and practical tasks
- A strong team player
- Committed to safe working practices
- Organised and well prepared
- Willing to work away from home occasionally
- Able to drive (clean licence preferred)
- Have normal colour vision
- Punctual, reliable, honest and trustworthy
- Able to reach site for early starts (around 06:00–06:30)
