The Role: We are currently recruiting for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established manufacturing site in Rochester. This is a hands‑on role focused on maintaining production equipment, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained to optimum operational standards
- React quickly to faults and breakdowns using effective fault‑finding techniques
- Minimise breakdowns through planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Communicate clearly with production teams to plan downtime and repairs
- Maintain stock levels of critical spare parts and service components
- Carry out maintenance work safely and in line with health & safety regulations
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery
- Use CMMS to log maintenance activity and diagnostics
- Continuously develop technical knowledge through training and best‑practice benchmarking
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Multi‑Skilled Engineer in a manufacturing environment
- Electrical apprenticeship served (City & Guilds, HNC, ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent - 18th Edition preferred)
- Strong electrical background with good mechanical knowledge
- Experience with PLC fault‑finding & diagnostics
- Excellent problem‑solving and diagnostic skills
- Strong attention to detail and proactive mindset
- Experience using CMMS systems
- Good communication skills with a minimum of B2 level English
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and reprioritise effectively
Shift Pattern
4 on / 4 off rotating shifts 07:00-19:00 and 12:00-24:00. During peak periods, shifts may change to 09:00-21:00.
