HV Estimator Design Engineer up to 132kV
Connect It are a growing multi-utility company, and to help support our success, we are looking to expand our Sales and Estimating team by recruiting a HV Estimator & Design Engineer up to 132kV . This role will support the business by developing accurate estimates and managing bids for design and build projects, including large and complex schemes, ensuring that all client requirements and technical issues are considered. This role will also hold responsibility for option appraisals and identifying and applying alternative solutions to enhance bid profitability and the delivery of value engineering.
Full-time, permanent office-based role, working a 45-hour week, Monday to Friday.
Location: Based in our new office and warehouse complex in Hedge End, Southampton, and reporting to the Sales and Estimating Director.
Responsibilities
The role will be responsible for:
- Having comprehensive DNO design experience ranging from 11kV to 132kV, including cable routes, substation, and civils design.
- Maintaining a high level of competency and accuracy when preparing estimates for projects ranging from 11kV to 132kV.
- Reviewing tender opportunities from a compliance, opportunity, and risk perspective.
- Developing proposals and providing innovation where applicable for valued engineering.
- Identifying and recommending appropriate bid proposals that meet client needs using a strong commercial and business awareness.
- Being highly motivated with a strong attention to detail.
- Managing client and key stakeholder requests in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications
Qualifications and experience:
- Proven Design and Estimating knowledge ranging from 11kV – 132kV projects (DNO and Private) and associated equipment, e.g., switchgear, cabling, earthing works, new/replacement transformers, protection, and control.
- Understanding of civils work, including trenching, backfilling, plant and equipment requirements for projects, and accurate vetting of quotations from supply chain partners.
- Proficient usage of Adobe Pro and Microsoft, specifically Excel.
In addition, you will preferably have:
- A clean driving license.
- Knowledge in Windfarm, Solar, Battery Storage, Micro grid infrastructure upgrades/new installations.
