We’re looking for a dependable and safety-conscious HGV Driver / Warehouse Operative to join our growing Warehouse & Transport team. This is a varied and hands‑on role that combines professional driving with warehouse support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being on the move, working as part of a team and contributing directly to operational success.
As an important link between our warehouse and operational teams, you’ll be responsible for the safe and timely delivery and collection of tools, equipment, plant and materials across our project sites. You’ll operate a range of commercial vehicles, from panel vans through to 26‑tonne beavertails and tippers, as well as towing specialist equipment including drum trailers, winches and small plant.
We’re looking for someone with a CE HGV Licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card, together with a strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours regulations, transport compliance and safe working practices. Above all, you’ll bring a positive, can‑do attitude and a commitment to delivering excellent service to our operational teams.
The standard working week is 45 hours, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to support operational and project requirements.
- Complete daily and first use vehicle checks on vehicles.
- Report and manage vehicle defects through to timely completion.
- Record and report tachograph information in line with legislation.
- Managing hours in line with Drivers Hours rules and Working Time Directive.
- Present a positive brand image by maintaining a smart appearance and clean vehicle.
- Safe and efficient loading and unloading of equipment and materials.
- Effective route planning to enable timely, safe and secure delivery of stock to a number of sites on a daily basis, ensuring that you keep a record.
- Developing good working relationships with site agents and on‑site teams.
- Provide additional support in the Warehouse or other areas as requested.

Skills Required
- Physically capable of work involved in the safe loading and unloading of vehicles.
- Strong problem‑solving and ability to use initiative, negotiate effectively, and influence others to resolve issues proactively while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service.
- Up to date knowledge of Drivers Hours, Working Time Directive and road traffic laws.
- The ability to work on your own, or as part of a team.
- Excellent planner and organiser, as required to support the safe and efficient delivery of tools and materials.
- Excellent communication skills, keeping both the Warehouse and on‑site teams informed.
- Maintains compliance with company policies and procedures.
- A working knowledge of statutory and regulatory policies associated with this role, eg. Data Protection, Health and Safety.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
Educational Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working as an HGV Driver.
- Good working knowledge of Drivers Hours Rules, safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Experience working to delivery deadlines.
- Computer literate with day to day operational experience using a handheld device.
- Clean CE HGV Licence.
- Valid Driver CPC.
- Digital Tachograph card.
- Forklift qualification desirable (training can be provided).
- Experience working in the utilities industry ideal but not essential.
