Hardware Engineer
Location : Blandford, Dorset, UK (on-site)
Salary : up to £40,000
We are recruiting for a leading technology company in Blandford, seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to join their R&D team. This is a chance to work on cutting-edge solutions from concept to production.
You\’ll work on the latest technologies, contributing to every stage of the product lifecycle within a dynamic and collaborative environment. This is an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of what\’s possible in high-speed data processing and cybersecurity.
What you’ll do
- Perform schematic capture for highly complex FPGA boards.
- Undertake PCB layout for high-layer count boards.
- Review colleagues\’ work to ensure designs meet specifications and datasheets.
- Research new and emerging technologies, including 5G/6G and 800Gb/s transceivers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with component OEMs and potential suppliers.
- Ensure complete and accurate data packs are released to Surface Mount Technology (SMT), including machine programming files.
- Collaborate closely with production and SMT teams, and assist other departments as needed.
- Work hand-in-hand with FPGA and Software departments to integrate products seamlessly.
Essential skills & experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar hardware engineering or R&D role.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding component datasheets and applying requirements to schematic capture.
- Good working knowledge of Altium Designer.
- Experience with Linux & Windows operating systems.
- A solid understanding of EMC/EMI and mitigation techniques.
Please note: This is a non-managerial role with potential for future supervisory responsibilities. Occasional travel may be required. SC security clearance is required for this role.
