We are a rapidly growing startup with a bold plan for the rapid rollout of multi-gigabit full-fibre broadband networks and services to communities across the UK. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Application Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of software applications.
Working closely with other engineers and cross-functional teams you will ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions that meet business and customer requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to play a big part in our transformation plans.
- Design and implement backend services and integrations using Python and modern frameworks.
- Build and maintain frontend applications using PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like Angular or Vue.
- Conduct regular code reviews to maintain code quality, performance and adherence to coding standards.
- Work closely with other engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and contribute to the design and development process.
- Suggest and implement improvements to the development process, ensuring efficiency and quality in application delivery.
- Help shape technical decisions and take part in solution design discussions.
A developer with a proven track record in supporting successful development projects, involved in the full development lifecycle from analysis to development.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language - Javascript, Python, PHP.
- Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a bonus.
- Experience with Wordpress and WooCommerce would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Devops etc.).
- Experience of Cloud infrastructures Azure or AWS.
- Working experience of API and REST API integrations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate development risks effectively.
- Knowledge of geopandas, numpy, node or SQL is desirable but not essential.
- Be able to work effectively in a remote/hybrid working environment with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Connect Fibre operates a hybrid working model with main emphasis on home working with intermittent visits to company office locations, in particular the main office in London.
Performance evaluation will be based upon:
- Quality of work and feedback from peers and colleagues.
- 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays plus Birthday Off (pro-rata).
