Our product sells itself! We now seek a dynamic, ambitious individual to join our Delivery Team.
The Role
The Civils Supervisor is responsible for day‑to‑day supervision of our in‑house Civils operations supporting the network deployment of our BDUK‑funded Fibre build projects within North Derbyshire ensuring that all works are delivered safely, to standard, and in line with programme requirements. The role provides visible site leadership and acts as the link between the civils operatives, the Civils Manager, and the Build Lead. This role is suited to someone with strong telecoms civils supervisory experience and proven ability to lead and coordinate the operations of a strong civils team. This role is critical to ensuring quality, safety, and driven productivity on the ground. Must be based within a 60 minute commute to Derbyshire sites, as accommodation will not be provided. Van and equipment will be provided for operational duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Supervision
- Supervise internal civils gangs and 3rd Party TM operatives
- Supervising daily site operations (but not limited to) Excavations, Trenching, Ducting, Core Drills, Chamber Builds, Reinstatements, TM set ups and associated works
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved designs, specifications and local authority requirements.
- Ensuring Permit Compliance (NRWSA, HAUC)
- Ensure operatives are working from and recording in date SafeDig documentation (utility searches, CADs, CAT & Genny checks, gas detectors)
- Coordinate daily activities and manage site sequencing
- Lead and support training, competence and performance with Civils Operatives
- Address any issues or conflicts on site enforcing strong communication and collaboration amongst team
- Support weekend work, out-of-hours tasks, and recovery activities when required
- Enforce H&S compliance across all civils operations
- Conduct site inspections, QC, toolbox talks, QC and audits, PPE Checks
- Maintain audit trails and apply corrective actions for non compliance
- Drive right-first-time quality and reinstatement standards – track and ensure Defect Reductions
- Ensure all works comply with CDM regulations, NRSWA, SROH requirements and client quality standards
- Ensuring RAMS are suitable, approved, and adhered to
- Carry out incident investigations and apply corrective actions
- Coordinate and collaborate closely with the Civils Manager and Civils Coordinators to produce strong permit programmes
- Monitor progress against programme
- Identify Risks and delivery issues with clear communication and implement effective corrective actions
- Maintain daily site records and progress reports
- Act as site point of contact for: Local authority Inspectors, TM providers, Build Leads, Civils Coordinators
- Support resolution of site issues quickly and effectively
Required Experience & Skills
Essential
- Experience supervising telecoms civils works
- Strong knowledge and understanding of: Streetworks Legislation and permitting (NRSWA, HAUC), Reinstatement standards (SROH), Civils construction methods and PIA, Traffic Management interfaces
- Proven H&S leadership on live sites
- Ability to manage multiple gangs
- Confident managing and Coaching operatives and site activities
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving
- Conflict Resolution Skills
- Strong Organisational Skills
- NRSWA Supervisor accreditation
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Must be based within 60 minute drive to Derbyshire
Desirable
- SMSTS or SSSTS

- Knowledge of BT Openreach specifications & documentation
- Knowledge of Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA)
