Working for this large multinational energy company in Central London, the Energy Analyst will be responsible for the daily running of the gas and power balancing functions for my clients' European entities and assist with analysis of key market and industry themes, including any regulatory changes and their impact on customers. This role is situated on the trading floor, monitoring real-time energy market information & trading screen prices, and as such the successful individual will be required to be adept at customer interaction and query resolution operating in a high-pressure environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Daily operation of the European balancing, including interaction with the Trading and Operation teams to ensure adequate position management.
- Maintenance and development of the various models and reporting files, including the Short Term Fundamentals, MI and Daily reports.
- Additional & ad-hoc balancing operations outside of hedging & trading activities to support entities and customer activity where required.
- Lend support to other members of the power and gas desks by assisting with core activities such as customer interaction/queries.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with key internal personnel such as Pricing, Back-office and Sales and ensure timely query resolution.
- As well as with customers and brokers, ensuring prompt query resolution and dissemination of market knowledge.
- Carry out ad hoc projects and analysis where necessary and ensure timely distribution to relevant parties (external and internal).
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the desk with particular reference to customer focused reporting.
- Assist with monthly reporting and provide data where requested, creation & development of a suite of daily, weekly & monthly reports to customers in the European entities.
Ideal qualifications, skill sets and experience:
- Strong academic background with a numerate, technical or energy focused degree.
- Experience in a commercially focused role within a UK gas/power business.
- Solid numerical ability and attention to detail/deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and telephone manner and confident personality.
- Strong Excel and VBA skillsets.
