Connect Driver Solutions are recruiting a Class 2 Driver to carry out end-of-life tyre collection work across Scotland. This is a fantastic full-time temp to perm opportunity, with your own vehicle assigned from day one.
About the role
- Monday to Friday, start times between 04:30 to 06:00 (depending on the route)
- Paid weekly at £14.73 per hour - £19.64 per hour after 48 hours
- £27 overnight allowance (overnights available at least every second week)
About the job
- Collection and Transport: Drive a company vehicle (Class 2 HGV) to multiple locations, including garages, commercial businesses, and waste facilities, to collect end-of-life tyres.
- Loading/Unloading: Manually load and unload tyres (which can be heavy and dirty) into the collection vehicle and at the processing facility or depot.
- Documentation and Compliance: Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, such as waste transfer notes, to ensure compliance with waste management regulations and the customer's duty of care obligations.
- Vehicle Maintenance and Safety: Conduct daily safety checks on the vehicle (e.g., checking oil, water, fuel, and tyre pressure) and report any defects immediately.
- Customer Service: Provide professional and polite customer service during interactions at collection points.
- Health and Safety Adherence: Operate safely and effectively in industrial environments, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times to minimise the risk of injury.
What do you need?
- Valid Class 2 licence - new driver’s welcome
- DCPC & Digi Card
- Class 2 HGV Driving Licence: A valid driving licence is essential. Some roles may require a Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) licence, such as Category C or C+E, depending on the vehicle used.
- Physical Fitness: The job is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift and move heavy items frequently and work on your feet for long periods.
- Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills for completing paperwork and interacting with customers and team members.
- Time Management: Strong organisational and time management skills to complete scheduled collections efficiently.
- Safety Awareness: A working knowledge of health and safety procedures and the ability to operate safely and effectively in an industrial environment.
