Fullstack Engineer (Backend Focussed) Node.js | TypeScript | AWS | PostgreSQL London — 4 days per week onsite £50,000–£55,000 benefits and share options Permanent, full-time The Opportunity I’m partnering with a growing London fintech building products that help people access, manage and save their money more effectively. They’re looking for a backend-focused Software Engineer to join a small, high-ownership engineering team and help build reliable financial products used by real customers. This is not a role where you’ll simply work through a backlog of pre-written tickets. You’ll be trusted to understand the wider problem, contribute to technical decisions and own work from initial requirement through to production. What You’ll Be Working On Designing and building backend services with Node.js and TypeScript Developing secure REST and GraphQL APIs Building and improving third-party integrations Working across payment, payroll and financial-data workflows Designing database-backed systems using PostgreSQL and MongoDB Improving production reliability, scalability and performance Investigating incidents and resolving underlying causes Strengthening automated testing, monitoring and CI/CD Working with AWS, Docker and cloud-native infrastructure Contributing to React-based product features when required What We’re Looking For Around 3–7 years of commercial software engineering experience Strong backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript Experience designing and maintaining production APIs Good knowledge of PostgreSQL or another relational database Hands-on AWS experience Experience with Docker, CI/CD and automated testing Confidence owning features across the full development lifecycle Strong communication and problem-solving skills A genuine interest in product outcomes, not just code delivery Particularly Relevant Experience Experience in any of the following would be valuable: Fintech, banking, payments or payroll Billing or subscription systems Event-driven architecture Kafka, SQS, SNS or RabbitMQ Webhooks and third-party integrations Authentication, permissions or RBAC Production incident response Microservices High-volume transactional systems Fast-growing SaaS or product-led businesses The Environment You’ll join a small engineering team where your work will be visible and your input will genuinely matter.
