A highly regarded independent prep school in North London is seeking to appoint an outstanding Year 6 Teacher with responsibility for leading Maths across the school from September 2026. This full-time maternity cover position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Upper Key Stage 2 teacher looking to combine excellent classroom practice with subject leadership within a warm, ambitious, and nurturing school environment.
The successful candidate will teach a class of just seven pupils and will play a key role in shaping the school's first-ever Year 6 cohort. Working closely with senior leadership, the postholder will help develop an engaging and academically rigorous Year 6 experience, including 11+ preparation, interview support, curriculum planning, and post-exam enrichment.

The Role
- Teach a small Year 6 class with a strong focus on academic preparation and pupil wellbeing

- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the wider life of the school
Head of Maths Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the teaching of Mathematics across the school
- Oversee curriculum planning, resources, and schemes of work
- Monitor pupil progress and attainment data
- Support colleagues with effective Maths teaching strategies
- Promote enthusiasm for Maths through competitions, enrichment, and wider initiatives
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Experience teaching Upper KS2 pupils
- A strong track record of excellent classroom teaching
- Experience preparing pupils for 11+ examinations (desirable)
- The confidence and enthusiasm to lead Maths across a prep school setting
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Independent school experience (desirable but not essential)
