Our client, a leading independent school in London, is seeking an experienced Theatre Production & Technical Manager to lead the operation of a busy, professionally equipped theatre and performance programme. The successful candidate will oversee the technical delivery of a wide range of productions and events across the academic year, supporting both curricular and co-curricular performing arts activity. This is an exciting opportunity to shape creative work in an educational environment while maintaining professional industry standards.
The Role
You will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school's theatre venue, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality technical delivery across productions, concerts and events.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing technical planning and delivery for performances and events
- Line managing technical staff and freelance practitioners
- Overseeing lighting, sound and stage systems
- Maintaining theatre facilities, equipment and technical inventory
- Managing production budgets and procurement
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation and best practice
- Supporting students involved in technical theatre pathways
About You
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Significant experience working in a theatre or live events venue
- Strong technical theatre knowledge across lighting, sound and staging
- Experience managing teams and production schedules
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A collaborative and solution-focused approach
Experience working with young people or within an education setting is advantageous but not essential.
Working Pattern
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday to be worked flexibly according to the performance schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
