Teacher of Food & Nutrition (Maternity Cover) - Independent School

Location: Essex (easily accessible through the Elizabeth Line)

Start Date: 13 March / 15 April 2026 to 2 July 2026

Contract: Full Time, Maternity Cover

Salary: Competitive, based on the school's generous independent pay scale

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding Teacher of Food & Nutrition to join a top independent school in a maternity cover position. The subject is part of the core curriculum in Year 8 and is available as a GCSE option in Year 9, with continued study opportunities in the Sixth Form.

The Food & Nutrition department benefits from excellent facilities, including two purpose-built teaching spaces equipped with multiple student kitchen stations, modern appliances, and dedicated areas for theoretical learning. Practical lessons are supported by technical staff. Digital learning is embedded across the school, with staff using Google Workspace and students and teachers issued with school-provided devices.

The appointed teacher will deliver Food & Nutrition lessons at Key Stages 3 and 4 and play an active role in supporting students beyond timetabled lessons, including during lunchtimes and after-school sessions. As part of the wider teaching community, the postholder will also be expected to contribute to extracurricular activities and the broader life of the school.
