About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, confident and passionate Deputy Nursery Manager to support the leadership of our friendly 60-place nursery in Ilford. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong early years practitioner who can support the Nursery Manager, motivate the team, maintain high standards of care and education, and help ensure every child is supported to thrive in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery, support staff across the setting, contribute to children's learning and development, build strong relationships with families, and help ensure full compliance with EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Nursery Manager in leading, managing and motivating the nursery team to deliver high-quality early years care and education.
- Assist with the smooth day-to-day operation of the 60-place setting, ensuring high standards across all rooms.
- Help ensure full compliance with the EYFS statutory framework, safeguarding procedures, health and safety requirements and Ofsted standards.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting a professional, supportive and child-centred team culture.
- Support staff rotas, ratios, room organisation, supervisions and ongoing training needs.
- Monitor the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, helping children make good progress.
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Support occupancy, enquiries, show-rounds and the overall smooth running of the nursery.
- Maintain accurate records, policies and procedures in line with statutory and company requirements.
- Help promote a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where children feel secure, valued and inspired.
About You
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Room Leader or senior early years practitioner.
- Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification, with higher qualifications desirable.
- Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted expectations.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A warm, approachable and professional manner with children, families and colleagues.
- Confident supporting a busy nursery environment, including staffing, compliance and parent partnerships.
- A genuine passion for high-quality early years education and continuous improvement.
