Director of Music — Independent Through School — Maternity Cover from April/May 2026 — London
Connaught Education is currently a partner of a revered, all-through independent day school, based in Southwest London, to appoint a Director of Music. The role in question is a full-time maternity cover contract, due to commence from late April or early May 2026. The school has seen considerable expansion since its inception in the early 90's, growing from 65 pupils to over 900 today, between the ages of 4 and 18 years old. The school benefits from extensive grounds and first-class facilities. The Music department is a thriving one, central to school life, with 4 full-time teachers, 17 peripatetic staff as well as graduate teaching assistants. The department is housed in its own dedicated building, with multiple classrooms, practice rooms and an auditorium space for concerts and recitals.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
The appointed Director of Music will have relevant professional experience, a good degree in a relevant subject area and the ability to confidently teach KS3, 4 & 5, orchestral and choral specialisms and an interest in Musical Theatre would be advantageous.
