Salary: £20,800 p/a with accommodation, or £24,852 p/a without accommodation

Contract: Full Time, One-Year Fixed-Term

Working Pattern: The role also includes working with sports teams on Saturday mornings throughout the academic year.

Our client, a leading independent through school in Essex, is seeking a Sports Graduate Assistant to join its ambitious and thriving Sports Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate considering a future career in teaching, coaching or education, who wishes to develop their professional skills within a highly supportive and well-resourced environment.

Graduate Assistants play a key role in supporting lessons, coaching teams, leading co-curricular activities and helping pupils develop a lifelong enjoyment of sport. We particularly welcome applications from graduates with experience or a strong interest in coaching Netball, Hockey, Football or Cricket.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline
  • A genuine interest in education, coaching and working with young people
  • Experience of participating in and/or coaching sport
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of every pupil

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of PE, Games and the wider co-curricular sports programme
  • Assisting with lessons, training sessions, team practices and competitive fixtures
  • Leading and coaching sports activities under the guidance of experienced staff
  • Supporting individual pupils and small groups through mentoring and coaching
  • Assisting with the organisation and administration of fixtures, tours and sporting events
  • Accompanying pupils on sports trips, visits and residential tours
  • Contributing to the pastoral life of the school through tutor group and House activities
  • Supporting weekend sporting commitments, including Saturday morning fixtures
