Some chefs serve food. You serve something far greater — comfort, connection, and care on every plate. We are looking for a skilled, calm, and quietly brilliant Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen at Connaught Care, a luxury, all-inclusive care home group where mealtimes matter deeply, and food is as much about wellbeing as it is about flavour. With six beautifully designed homes open and six more on the way, Connaught is redefining care through elegance, hospitality, and human warmth. Our residents enjoy five-star dining daily, not just because we can, but because we believe food is dignity, joy, and often someone’s favourite part of the day. As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen, delivering exceptional food with compassion, professionalism, and pride.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, seasonal menus that cater to a wide range of tastes and dietary needs.
  • Supervise the kitchen team, including Chef de Partie and Kitchen Assistants, ensuring smooth, efficient service.
  • Take the lead in the Head Chef's absence, managing kitchen operations confidently and calmly.
  • Mentoring junior team members to help them pick up your brilliant habits.
  • Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, allergen, health & safety, and dietary protocols.
  • Help develop menus for themed events, resident occasions, and special celebrations.
  • Build strong relationships with residents and colleagues, ensuring food always feels personal, never institutional.

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie, ideally in hospitality, hotels, or high-end care.
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification.
  • A passion for cooking food that’s not only delicious but also comforting and nourishing.
  • Experience with specialist diets and allergen management (training can be provided).
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a collaborative, calm approach.
  • A genuine interest in how food contributes to wellbeing, independence, and happiness in later life.

Why Connaught? Because here, food isn’t just about what’s on the plate—it’s about how someone feels when it’s placed in front of them. At Connaught, you will work in a professional, well-equipped kitchen with a team that cares as much as you do. No late-night shifts, no frantic turnaround—just the joy of creating beautiful food that matters, every single day. You will be part of something bigger: a culture that celebrates hospitality, prioritises quality, and supports your development, wellbeing, and career journey. If you’re ready to bring heart to your craft, lead with quiet confidence, and cook meals that do more than nourish, we’d love to hear from you.
