We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our kitchen team, supporting the delivery of high-quality dishes and memorable dining experiences for our guests. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills within a professional kitchen environment.

As a Commis Chef, you will work closely with senior chefs, assisting in food preparation, maintaining high standards, and learning all aspects of kitchen operations. To be successful in this role, you should be eager to learn, able to work well under pressure, and committed to developing your skills. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with a genuine passion for food and hospitality.

Main Responsibilities

  • A Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in all sections and learns fundamental cooking techniques.
  • Assisting in the preparation, cooking and presentation of dishes.
  • Supporting Chef de Partie and senior chefs in daily kitchen operations.
  • Preparing ingredients including vegetables, meat and fish.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of your workstation.
  • Ensuring food hygiene and health & safety standards are followed at all times.
  • Learning and developing new skills under guidance from senior chefs.
  • Assisting with stock rotation and basic kitchen organisation.
  • Supporting with portion control and minimising waste.

Person Specification

Essential

  • A passion and enthusiasm for food and hospitality.
  • Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
  • Proactive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work well within a team and under pressure.
  • Basic food hygiene knowledge.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment.
  • NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Catering or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a hotel or high-volume kitchen.
