Confluent is building a data streaming platform that moves information in near real-time to help companies react faster, build smarter, and deliver dynamic experiences. The CSTA Manager will blend technical problem solving with mentorship and organizational growth discussions. The role manages a team of 6-12 CSTAs who are technical advisors and advocates for multiple customer accounts within one or more Sales territories. The CSTA Manager reports to the CSTA theater leader and contributes to defining and running programs and strategies for Platinum and Premier customers, in collaboration with Sales, CSM, and SE teams.

What You Will Do

  • Set clear goals and expectations for your team and manage performance and achievement of goals aligned to CSTA theater goals or territory priorities.
  • Support the career development of direct reports with bi-weekly coaching, mentoring, and quarterly performance reviews.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new CSTAs.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to strengthen relationships and share updates.
  • Collaborate with the global CSTA practice lead and peers to improve customer and employee experience and to drive efficiency and scale.
  • Contribute to global learning & development programs to align best practices and consistent messaging.
  • Ensure ongoing learning in CSTA technical knowledge, new product/feature introduction, and soft skills.
  • Coordinate with Sales and CSG to ensure territory success in new business, renewals, and expansion; monitor key reports and dashboards.
  • Manage available budget and Platinum/Premier forecast for territories; approve or decline exceptions to pricing and assign CSTAs to accounts as needed.
  • Meet weekly with Sales and CSG peers to discuss new business, risk, and opportunity; participate in forecast calls and QBRs.
  • Be prepared to escalate customer risk and join calls to address issues; document formal risk/escalation processes as needed.
  • Ensure Sales representatives in territory are equipped to position Platinum and Premier value and set correct expectations with prospects.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in business, computer science or engineering, mathematics, or other quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated success in management within a technical field for a product/SaaS company with enterprise customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder escalations to mutually agreeable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple customer situations, driving expansion, customer satisfaction, feature adoption, and retention.
  • Collaborative spirit, strong consulting and relationship management skills, and ability to switch contexts quickly.
  • Strong coaching and mentorship abilities across junior to senior technical talent.
  • Ability to analyze and plan territory coverage for CSTA.
  • Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly and a strong interest in doing so.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, distributed team.

What Gives You An Edge

  • Confluent Developer or Administrator certifications (Confluent Certification for Apache Kafka).
  • Experience with companies using Apache Flink.
  • Experience helping customers build distributed systems or streaming solutions with Kafka alongside Spark, Flink, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.
  • Experience working in a Customer Success organization.
