Confluent Solutions Engineers drive the technical evaluation stage of the overall sales process, making them critical drivers of customer success as real-time data streams become more and more important in the modern enterprise. In this role, you will be the key technical advisor to the sales team, work very closely with the product management and engineering teams, and serve as a vital product advocate in front of prospects, customers, and the wider Kafka and Big Data communities.
What You Will Do
- Help advance new & innovative Data Streaming use‑cases from conception to Go‑Live
- Execute on and lead Technical Proofs of Concept
- Conduct Discovery & Whiteboard Sessions to develop new use‑cases
- Provide Thought Leadership by delivering Technical Talks and Workshops
- Guide customers with hands‑on help and best practice to drive operational maturity of their Confluent Deployment
- Analyze Customer Consumption trends and identify Optimization opportunities
- Work closely with Product and Engineering teams, and serve as a key Product advocate across the Customer, Partner and Industry ecosystem
- Forge strong relationships with key customer stakeholders and serve as a dependable partner for them
What You Will Bring
- Becoming a Trusted Advisor to key customer personas we engage with including Software Engineers, Architects and Technical Executives to drive platform consumption
- Autonomously lead engagements with customers whilst working closely with Account Executive and other internal teams
- Having an understanding of MEDDIC/MEDDPICC or similar frameworks used for qualification
- Exceptional presentation and communications capabilities. Confidence presenting to a highly skilled and experienced audience, including enterprise architects and C‑level executives
- Experience with technical sales of distributed systems, infrastructure software like databases, message queues, SaaS, or Big Data products
- Some experience in Java or Python and familiarity with developing ETL applications
- Bachelor’s level degree in Computer Science or relevant experience

- Previous experience building solutions with Apache Kafka
- Understanding of systems operations concepts (disk, network, operating systems, etc)
- Experience building and operating large scale systems
