About the role
We’re looking for a Senior IT Infrastructure Administrator – Networking to join Confluence in a hands-on, senior networking role supporting enterprise infrastructure initiatives from design through implementation and into steady-state operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining project delivery with operational ownership — designing robust solutions, embedding them into support, and acting as a trusted technical escalation point for complex networking issues.
You’ll play a key role in our network transformation programme, supporting cloud migration initiatives and SD-WAN deployment across a global environment.
Why apply?
This is more than a traditional network support role. You’ll have end-to-end involvement across design, implementation, optimisation and troubleshooting, with the opportunity to influence technical decisions and shape the future of our infrastructure landscape. You’ll act as a Subject Matter Expert across networking technologies, helping to build internal capability, mentor colleagues and reduce reliance on third-party vendors.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering and supporting enterprise infrastructure projects from design through implementation and into operational support.
- Acting as a networking SME across troubleshooting, optimisation and knowledge sharing.
- Supporting strategic initiatives including cloud migration and SD-WAN implementation.
- Serving as a senior technical escalation point for complex networking issues.
- Driving improvements in network performance, resilience and operational efficiency.
- Maintaining infrastructure health through firmware updates, patching and configuration management.
- Supporting knowledge transfer and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Collaborating with infrastructure, security and technology teams to ensure successful project delivery.
What skills and experience do I need to succeed?
Essential requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise networking technologies, including Firepower, ISE and SD-WAN solutions (Viptela/Catalyst).
- Deep understanding of enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and load balancers.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience within enterprise IT infrastructure or networking environments.
- Strong expertise with routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP across multi-site environments.
- Proven ability to design, implement and transition infrastructure solutions into production.
- Hands-on experience in incident management, root cause analysis and issue resolution.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to resolve complex networking issues independently.
- Understanding of how networking impacts wider infrastructure, security, virtualisation and database environments.
- Experience acting as a senior technical escalation point and mentoring other engineers.
Desirable requirements
- Experience within SaaS or cloud-based environments.
- Exposure to virtualisation technologies such as VMware.
- Experience with enterprise storage platforms, including NetApp.
- Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Terraform or Ansible.
- Cisco certifications such as CCNP or CCIE.
- Experience supporting cloud migration or infrastructure modernisation programmes.
- Previous SD-WAN implementation experience.
