The Director – Tax leads global tax reporting, compliance, and strategic tax planning for a complex, multi-jurisdictional organisation. Reporting to the CFO, the role oversees tax returns, transfer pricing, and legal entity rationalisation projects, working closely with internal teams and external advisors. Key responsibilities include managing tax audits, supporting business transactions, and ensuring compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, and local standards. The position is central to shaping the company's tax strategy and supporting ongoing business growth and transformation.

What skills and experience do I need to succeed?

  • International Tax Expertise: Deep knowledge of international tax, with experience managing tax matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Managing Outside Advisors: Proven ability to coordinate and oversee external tax consultants and advisors.
  • Legal Entity Rationalisation: Experience leading or supporting complex legal entity rationalisation projects, collaborating with legal and finance teams.
  • Tax Audit Management: Direct experience handling tax audits, interacting with tax authorities, and resolving audit issues in various countries.
  • Technical Accounting Skills: Strong grounding in IFRS, US GAAP, and statutory GAAP; expertise in transfer pricing, purchase price accounting, business combinations, and related areas.
  • Education & Certification: Bachelor's degree in financial accounting or related field with specialisation in Tax; CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Leadership Experience: At least 10 years' progressive experience, including three years in a management role.
  • Change Management: Demonstrated success in driving strategic initiatives and managing change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills, able to work effectively across time zones and with diverse teams.
  • Systems Knowledge: Experience with NetSuite and Hyperion preferred.
  • Transaction Experience: Exposure to acquisitions, asset dispositions, and business wind-downs, supporting tax impact analysis and strategic planning.
  • Strategic Tax Planning: Ability to contribute to organisational streamlining and support expansion into new regions.
  • Remote Working: Flexibility to work from preferred locations or remotely, with openness to strong candidates from other regions.
  • Consulting Experience: Ability to provide interim support or transition consulting, as needed.
