A unique opportunity has opened up for a technically minded Registered Building Inspector with an interest in being remote based, to join a forward-thinking local authority in a senior, technical position that focuses on plan checking delivery, supervision, and mentoring. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical supervision and review of inspection reports, site records, and associated documentation.
  • Ensure all work is delivered in line with current Building Regulations, legislation, and professional standards.
  • Undertake plan assessments across a range of projects including residential, commercial, and more complex developments.
  • Produce clear and accurate plan check reports and compliance advice.
  • Mentor and support colleagues on technical matters, particularly on more complex cases.
  • Monitor quality, consistency, and performance across reporting and inspections.
  • Identify areas of risk or non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical queries.
  • Contribute to team development and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

  • Registered Building Inspector (Class 2F preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong experience in plan checking within building control.
  • In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Act, and associated legislation.
  • Strong communication skills with an approachable and supportive style.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities.
  • Comfortable working with a range of IT systems and document management platforms.
