Salary: £50,000 – £75,000
A new opportunity has arisen with one of the UK’s leading Registered Building Control Approvers (RBCA) to support their Bristol and Bath region (RBI / Building Control Surveyor). This is a genuinely rare vacancy, created solely due to a long-standing inspector’s retirement, and offers the chance to join an organisation widely regarded as one of the strongest employers in the Building Control market, particularly for staff retention, stability, and long-term career satisfaction.
Alongside being a competitive payer, the business places a strong emphasis on sustainability and work-life balance. Workload expectations are very reasonable, with excellent wider team support in place to ensure inspectors are trusted to do their job without unnecessary pressure or micromanagement. The Bristol/Bath region is currently a low-volume area, making it particularly attractive for those seeking balance. The role would typically require two, occasionally three, site days per week, with the remaining time spent undertaking remote plan checking and administrative duties from home.
This position would suit a Registered Building Inspector at 2A (or above) who is looking for a well-supported, long-term role with an employer that values experience, autonomy, and quality over volume – plenty workload variety if looking to upgrade RBI classification under supervision.
- Market-leading salary range at all Registered Building Inspector grades
- Low workload area with genuine work-life balance
- Project variety allowing RBI upgrade under supervision
- Hybrid working model (site and remote plan checking)
- Strong internal support and collaborative team culture
- Stable role created through retirement, not attrition
