We are currently supporting a major oil & gas operator in hiring experienced Welding Supervisors for a significant long-term fabrication programme in Kirkcaldy.
The work will involve leading frontline welding teams delivering the fabrication, assembly, modification and welding of large heavy steel structures and associated fabricated components, including structural steelwork, plant structures, equipment supports and heavy fabricated assemblies.
We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced Welding Supervisors from oil & gas, petrochemical, process plant, shutdown, offshore and heavy engineering environments.
The project is expected to run for approximately 9β12 months, with both day and night shift opportunities available and strong weekly hours anticipated.
For eligible travelling workers, a Β£300 per week travel and accommodation allowance is available.
The Work
The work would particularly suit Welding Supervisors coming from oil & gas, petrochemical, offshore, process plant, shutdown, heavy fabrication, marine or shipbuilding backgrounds.
The role will involve:
- Supervising and supporting FCAW / Flux Core welding teams
- Planning daily welding activities and allocating tasks and resources
- Coordinating welding across large fabricated structures and assemblies
- Ensuring work follows engineering drawings, welding procedures and specifications
- Monitoring weld quality and supporting corrective action and rework where required
- Checking progress against daily and weekly production targets
- Coordinating with Plating / Fabrication Supervisors and other engineering trades
- Leading safety briefings and toolbox talks
- Identifying and reporting production risks, delays and resource constraints
- Supporting attendance, timekeeping and day-to-day team performance
- Providing practical welding guidance and technical support to the team
- Supporting quality documentation and required production records
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity
Requirements
- Strong technical welding background, ideally including FCAW / Flux Core
- Previous experience supervising and coordinating welding teams
- Experience working with heavy structural steel and fabricated assemblies
- Ability to read engineering drawings and work to welding procedures and specifications
- Good understanding of welding quality, defects and corrective action
- Ability to plan work, allocate resources and coordinate daily activities
- Oil & gas, petrochemical, offshore, heavy engineering, marine or shipbuilding experience preferred
- Good people management, communication and safety awareness
- A practical, hands-on approach to quality and production delivery
