Senior Software Engineer (.Net) - York/Hybrid
A well-established software business is modernising a large Windows desktop platform into a modern web product, and theyre looking for a Senior .NET Developer to play a key role in that transformation.
This is a hands-on role with real influence over back-end architecture, technical direction and delivery.
Youll work across C#/.NET, APIs, system design and legacy modernisation, while helping the wider team adopt better engineering practices and make effective use of AI-assisted development.
What your typical day will look like:
- Building complex back-end services and APIs using C#, .NET and ASP.NET Core
- Making pragmatic architectural and technical decisions
- Modernising functionality from a large WinForms/legacy platform
- Working closely with Engineering, Product and technical stakeholders
- Using AI coding tools and agents across development, testing, refactoring and migration
- Supporting high standards around testing, security, observability and code quality
- Investigating complex technical issues and driving them through to resolution
- Providing technical guidance and helping other engineers develop
About you: Strong commercial experience with C#, modern .NET and ASP.NET CoreStrong understanding of system architecture, APIs, data and integrationsExperience working with SQL and relational databasesA solid understanding of software design, testing and maintainable codeExperience working with large or unfamiliar codebasesExperience modernising or migrating legacy systemsAn interest in, or practical experience of, AI-assisted developmentThe confidence to make technical decisions, communicate them clearly and influence others
Bonus points for: Kubernetes, Docker, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, GraphQL, observability tooling, CI/CD, microservices or RabbitMQ.
Working pattern
York/Hybrid 2 days per week in the office
37.5 hours per week with flexitime and core hours of 10am3pm.
