We're looking for an experienced technician to become the senior pair of hands in our Redditch workshop. This is a step up from a general mechanic role, we want someone who can work at pace, unsupervised, and who other technicians can go to when they're stuck.
We're a busy independent garage with two sites in the heart of Redditch.
The work
We're a high-throughput workshop, not a restoration shop. Our bread and butter is:
- Servicing and repairs across all makes
- Clutches, cam belts and wet belts
- Brakes, suspension and steering
- Tyres and fast-fit work
- Diagnosing faults accurately and efficiently
We deliberately don't take on engine rebuilds, gearbox rebuilds or multi-day strip-downs.
What we need from you
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or time-served equivalent
- Several years' experience in a busy workshop, ideally independent rather than main dealer
- Confident on clutches and belts without needing to be talked through them
- Genuinely capable on diagnostics, able to read live data and work a fault through logically, not just plug in a code reader
- Comfortable working on your own initiative and setting the standard for the workshop
- Reliable attendance and timekeeping, we're a small team and one person not turning up puts the whole day behind
- Full UK driving licence
What we offer
- £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. No weekends, no on-call
- Modern, well-equipped workshop
- Funded training, including MOT tester and EV certification
- Holiday pay and pension
- 20 days' holiday plus bank holidays
Shortlisted candidates will be invited in for a paid half-day trial in the workshop.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
Benefits:
