The Role As an English Academic Mentor , you will:
Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group academic support in English
Work with students across KS3 and KS4 , supporting reading, writing, comprehension and analytical skills
Help students develop confidence and improve their academic progress
Support pupils who may require additional intervention to reach their potential
Work closely with English Teachers to identify areas for development and deliver effective interventions
Build positive relationships with students and act as a motivating role model
Contribute to a positive and aspirational school environment
Previous experience working with young people is highly desirable tutoring, mentoring, classroom support, youth work or similar experience would be particularly advantageous.
The Ideal English Academic Mentor The school is seeking a graduate who is:
Educated to a 2:1 or First Class degree in English, English Literature or a related subject
Passionate about English, literacy and education
Confident supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis
An excellent communicator with the ability to build strong relationships
Patient, resilient and able to motivate students who may lack confidence
Academically strong and committed to helping young people succeed
Considering a future career in teaching or education
