Ocean Imports Operator

Are you an experienced freight forwarding professional looking for a varied role where you can manage shipments from start to finish and build strong customer relationships? A well-established international logistics business is seeking an Ocean Imports Operator to join its growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with ocean freight import experience who enjoys taking ownership of shipments and delivering a high level of customer service.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Managing FCL and LCL ocean import shipments from start to finish.
- Processing and checking shipping documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with customs and import procedures.
- Preparing and completing customs declarations.
- Providing shipment updates to customers via phone and email.
- Arranging deliveries with hauliers and service providers.
- Producing customer invoices and checking supplier invoices.
- Providing proof of delivery documentation.
- Preparing quotations and arranging bookings for new shipments.
- Maintaining excellent customer relationships and service levels.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience within freight forwarding, specifically ocean imports.
- Experience managing customer accounts and import shipments independently.
- Strong understanding of import documentation and customs processes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
- A proactive and customer-focused approach.
