ABOUT THE CLIENT
We're working with an established UK organisation within the waste management and environmental services sector, who are looking for an experienced HGV Workshop Supervisor to join their maintenance operation in Berkshire.
This is a hands-on position where you'll combine your technical HGV expertise with responsibility for supervising Technicians and Apprentices, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

THE HGV WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR ROLE
Working closely with the Workshop Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of the workshop team while remaining hands-on with servicing, maintenance and repairs.
You'll supervise HGV Technicians and Apprentices, effectively allocate daily workloads and coordinate shift handovers and maintenance requirements with operational depots.
Alongside your supervisory responsibilities, you'll carry out hands-on servicing, repairs and fault finding, while ensuring service sheets and job cards are completed and signed off correctly.
You'll also manage open defects, support Vehicle Off Road (VOR) reporting, assist with parts ordering and stock control, and help maintain accurate records across the workshop.
A key part of the role will be providing technical guidance to the team, maintaining high Health & Safety standards and identifying opportunities to improve workshop processes and efficiency.
HGV WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Previous supervisory experience within an HGV, fleet or vehicle maintenance environment
Current LGV Class 2 licence as a minimum
Digital tachograph card and good understanding of tachograph systems
City & Guilds HGV Parts 1-3, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
Strong HGV servicing, maintenance and repair experience
Good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics and mechanical systems
Confident fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe workshop practices
Strong communication and team leadership skills
Comfortable remaining hands-on while supervising and supporting others
This could be a particularly strong opportunity for ex-forces Engineers and Technicians with experience maintaining heavy vehicles, mechanical systems or complex equipment, alongside experience supervising or leading technical teams.
