We now have a Sales Director opportunity within the motor industry. We are looking for an individual with director or multi-site level experience in a premium motor retail environment. We have a stable and successful division with 10+ sales points concentrated in the North East of England and North Yorkshire and in the South West. This division forms part of our UK footprint of 20+ franchised motor retail outlets offering vehicle sales, servicing, parts and accident repair facilities representing all major manufacturers.

The role will entail travel throughout the dealership network to ensure that you are close to the business, understand its nuances and are able to personally influence managers to help them succeed. Given the national scope of the role we are flexible in relation to the location of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Group Director, this role sets and drives the strategy and leads the dealership-based team to deliver results.
  • The role focuses on ensuring the excellent and consistent execution of the Group’s and manufacturer’s sales strategy at the operational level.
  • This starts with ensuring that the people in our dealerships understand our Active Sales process and have the tools, resources, stock and support to be able to deliver it.
  • Your role will involve setting the monthly and quarterly agenda for your sales management teams and working at a tactical level in dealerships to help them deliver the results.
  • You will have responsibility for the P&L performance of the new and used sales department and will be the primary individual driving sales performance on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • This will include holding operational reviews of sales departments, best-practice workshops and individual meetings with General Managers and Sales Managers to ensure that the Group’s sales processes are well embedded into dealerships and to monitor the performance of sales departments and agree actions to deliver improvements.
  • You will oversee sales campaigns, drive prospecting activity, liaise with the manufacturer to maximise their new car marketing impact on our Group, work with our own marketing department to drive used car sales and oversee stock procurement.
  • You will also support the adoption of new sales systems, processes and change programmes.
  • Equally as important is ensuring that the teams deliver the process whilst keeping customer experience at the very centre of what they do.
  • Profitability and customer satisfaction are the two primary deliverables for this role.
  • You will take the lead in creating an environment which will deliver financial results alongside customer experience whilst ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework surrounding vehicle and regulated product sales.
  • You will also be responsible for leading the talent development of your Sales Managers and driving up skill levels and capabilities throughout the division.
  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to grow talent in a structured and effective manner.
