About the role
We are looking for aHousekeeping & Waste Management Operative to join our team and take ownership of housekeeping and waste management across our site.
This is a hands-on role where you will play an important part in maintaining a clean, safe, tidy and efficient working environment across our production areas, external yards and waste storage areas.
You will work largely independently, organising your day-to-day activities while responding to any priority housekeeping requirements as they arise. The role would suit someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards, has a practical approach to their work and is confident working safely and independently.
What you'll be doing
Managing the day-to-day handling of site waste, including cardboard, plastics, general waste and recycling.
Ensuring waste is correctly segregated, labelled and stored ready for collection or disposal.
Operating waste-handling equipment such as balers and compactors safely and in line with site procedures.
Supporting and liaising with recycling and waste contractors during scheduled collections.
Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across production areas, shared spaces, external yards and waste storage areas.
Cleaning plant and equipment during agreed downtime periods and following the appropriate safe working procedures.
Identifying and reporting hazards, spillages, damaged containers, waste contamination and other unsafe conditions.
Moving waste and materials safely using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment.
Reporting near misses and helping to promote a safe, tidy and environmentally responsible workplace.
Supporting wider site cleaning and housekeeping activities where required.
Providing additional support, including occasional additional hours, where agreed to cover holidays or operational requirements.
About you
We're looking for someone who:
Has a practical, hands-on approach to their work.
Takes pride in maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
Understands the importance of health and safety, housekeeping and waste segregation.
Can work independently and organise their own workload.
Has good attention to detail and consistently maintains high standards.
Is comfortable communicating with colleagues, contractors and other members of the site team.
Understands safe manual handling practices.

Has a valid counterbalance forklift licence , or is willing and able to complete the necessary training to obtain one.
Previous experience in a housekeeping, waste management, facilities, warehouse or manufacturing environment would be useful, but we're also interested in candidates with the right practical attitude and willingness to learn.
