Hays Accountancy & Finance is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing independent accountancy practice in Teesside as they look to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a practice professional who is looking to take on a broad and varied role, combining technical accounting responsibilities with client management, staff development and involvement in the continued growth of a successful business.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in delivering an outstanding service to a diverse portfolio of clients while helping to support and develop junior members of the team.
Your new role
As a Senior Accountant, you will take responsibility for managing client relationships, reviewing work produced by junior colleagues and ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting and advisory services. Key duties will include:
Preparation and review of statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
Preparation of management accounts, VAT returns and corporation tax computations.
Managing a varied portfolio of clients and acting as a trusted point of contact.
Reviewing the work of junior team members and providing coaching, guidance and support.
Supporting workflow management and helping to ensure client deadlines are met.
Assisting with client onboarding and continuous improvement initiatives.
Supporting wider business development activities and contributing to future growth.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will ideally have:
ACA, ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience.
A minimum of 3 years' experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
Strong technical accounting and tax compliance knowledge.
Previous experience reviewing work and mentoring more junior colleagues.
Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or similar.
