Vulcain Engineering is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Manager to oversee delivery quality, technical consistency, and consultant development within our mechanical discipline. Responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of mechanical consultants, including appraisals, development planning, and day-to-day management.
- Overseeing the quality of mechanical engineering delivery across active projects.
- Supporting proposal production for managed services and work packages by helping define scope and approach.
- Delivering mechanical activities directly as required, including supplier liaison, issue resolution, and reviews.
- Identifying training needs and aligning development plans with project requirements and career progression goals.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent). Although not immediately required, Chartership status or actively undergoing the process for attaining Chartership through a recognised international body will be highly considered when assessing candidates.
- Strong technical background in mechanical engineering, with previous experience working within the UK nuclear industry.
- Experience leading engineering teams and supporting the team’s development.
- Proven track record of managing engineering packages through design, qualification, and delivery.
- Familiarity with supplier technical documentation, interfaces, and contract oversight.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and documentation management.

In the absence of a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, significant qualifications in an engineering field with necessary work experience are acceptable. Salary depending on experience. Due to the nature of the work, role holders will be required to undergo a Basic Security clearance (BPSS) and must have Permanent Independent Right to Work in the UK.
