We're recruiting three experienced, resilient male Residential Support Workers for a well-established, Ofsted-registered children's home in Waltham Abbey supporting young people with learning disabilities and autism. You'll be a positive, consistent role model for young people who need adults they can trust, with structure, patience and the confidence to stay calm when things get tough.

What you'll do:

  • Provide day-to-day care, guidance and emotional support, helping young people build routine, confidence, communication and independence skills.
  • Act as a positive male role model, using de-escalation, positive behaviour support and relationship-based approaches to support behaviour that challenges.
  • Support personal care, health needs and medication in line with care plans.
  • Keep young people safe, following safeguarding procedures, care plans and risk assessments.
  • Support education, health appointments, activities and family contact.
  • Keep accurate daily logs and incident reports to Ofsted standards.
  • Work closely with the Registered Manager, social workers, schools and other professionals.

What you'll need:

  • At least 12 months' experience in an Ofsted-registered children's residential home, ideally supporting young people with learning disabilities and/or autism (supported accommodation, adult care or school settings alone won't count).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to complete it.
  • Physical and emotional resilience, with experience of de-escalation and positive behaviour support (PMVA, MAPA or Team Teach an advantage).
  • The right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship.
  • Willingness to work a flexible rota including sleep-ins.
  • A full UK driving licence is highly desirable.

What's on offer:

  • £13.50 per hour plus £60 per sleep-in.
  • Ongoing training and support with qualifications.
  • A supportive management team and a real chance to make a difference.
  • Enhanced DBS provided.

This role is open to male applicants only. Being male is an occupational requirement for this post under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, to meet the needs of the young people currently living in the home.
