Duties for the role of Assistant Town Planner:
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
- Undertaking research into planning policy, legislation and guidance
- Reviewing local and national planning policies and identifying their implications for development proposals
- Assisting with planning appraisals and development feasibility assessments
- Supporting the preparation of planning statements, reports and other technical documents
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, clients and other stakeholders
- Monitoring planning applications and assisting with the management of project programmes
- Attending meetings, site visits and planning committees where appropriate
Requirements for the role of Assistant Town Planner:
- RTPI Accredited degree within town planning or another related discipline
- Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or related planning environment, although strong graduates will also be considered
- An understanding of the UK planning system and relevant planning policy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent research, analytical and organisational abilities
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
- Good attention to detail
- Confidence communicating with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn
- A genuine interest in the built environment, development and planning
