Description

We have an excellent opportunity to join our UK Construction team as a Team Leader (Heavy Industry).

Leading a team of six colleagues, the successful candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of clients and prospects with accountability for retention and a strong focus on new business development.

We are looking for someone with a very strong technical insurance background within the UK construction market, together with experience in team management.

The Role

  • Manage client relationships by understanding their business needs and delivering tailored risk management solutions.
  • Identify and maintain active relationships with key decision makers and budget holders within client organisations.
  • Provide technical, industry and subject matter expertise, drawing on specialist teams as required.
  • Develop and implement effective solutions, pricing, and placement strategies for both new and existing clients.
  • Lead team to ensure consistent client service.
  • Drive business development by maintaining a pipeline of prospects, responding to RFPs, and conducting new business presentations.
  • Promote cross-selling opportunities and collaborate with colleagues across the business to maximise account penetration.
  • Oversee placement management including revenue optimisation, compliance, accurate data processing, and policy checking.
  • Deliver end-to-end client service, ensuring adherence to operational standards, regulatory requirements, and profitability targets.
  • Monitor and manage KPIs/SLAs, provide feedback on process improvements, and actively support the implementation of corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Construction insurance experience is essential together with strong technical insurance knowledge
  • Proven track record of delivering high levels of client service
  • Strong practical knowledge of strategic account development and appropriate tools to achieve this
  • Experienced at new business sales process and track record of converting prospects to clients
  • Team Management experience
  • Skilled at building effective relationships, at all levels, with clients, prospects, associates, insurers and external specialists
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience of working with and adhering to processes and systems to support client service delivery
  • Preferably with professional qualifications of ACII or similar
